Senior Environmental Program Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Executive Management Team          

Position Summary:

Experienced, dynamic individual with solid environmental compliance knowledge relating to the oil and gas industry needed to oversee established projects and new business development at satellite office located in Artesia, NM. This position will provide technical expertise related to a variety of complex or unique assignments in the oil and gas industry, work to establish new business relationships, and oversee day to day operations.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Active participation in strategic planning efforts of Permian Basin office; leads effort to meet or exceed established revenue and gross margin targets for office.

• Complete preparation of environmental reports, correspondence, work plans and permit applications.
• Complete, coordinate and schedule required testing, sampling, monitoring, field inspections, data gathering and recordkeeping.
• Read and interpret applicable environmental permits, laws and regulations.
• Meet with clients/potential clients, network and build business relationships.
• Mentor and train staff; support company policies, procedures, and goals.
• Ensure overall completeness, quality, and timeliness of all deliverables coming out of Artesia office.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent understanding of federal environmental regulations, terminology, principles, and operations as well as oil and gas requirements within various basins throughout New Mexico and Texas.
• Significant experience in dealing with environmental issues as they relate to oil and gas exploration and production.
• Knowledge of environmental programs including SPCC, SWPPP, NPDES, USACE, USFWS, and general waste management regulations. This position may be responsible for release or spill response, mitigation, remediation and reporting so an understanding of EPCRA/CERCLA is also desirable.
• Knowledge of federal onshore orders, rules and regulations as applicable to the oil and gas industry.
• Excellent leadership and management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with clients, staff and regulatory agencies.
• Organized and professional.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet client deliverables.
• Strong mathematical skills with an understanding of both inorganic and organic chemistry and basic biologic and geologic principals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Strong initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability and willingness to travel to surrounding areas as needed.
• Valid State issued driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug screenings as applicable.
• Ability to pass background check as applicable.

Environment

• Position will require both office and field work to include onsite visits with personnel and clients to ensure project quality, facilitate communication or mentor junior staff.

Education and Experience

• B.S in Environmental Science or related scientific field.
• 5+ Years of demonstrated recent related work experience.
• Preference will be given to those applicants who have prior experience or training in USACE 404 Wetlands permitting, Clean Water ACT, USACE Wetlands Delineation Training Course, SPCC/PPC Plan Preparation, SRBC Water Withdrawal Permitting, ESCGP-1 Preparation and Inspection, Spill Response and Remediation
